Welcome to... Dell Fork Ranch
The Dell Fork Ranch is located near Bondurant, Wyoming, with a population of 100 in the Hoback River Basin, the closest ranching community to the Jackson Hole resort area. The ranch is located one mile from Highway 189/191 via one-half mile of county road and one-half mile of private ranch road. The Census Bureau data shows that Sublette County was the 5th fastest growing county among the more than 3,000 counties in the nation between 2006 and 2007. The county was also the second fastest growing county west of the Mississippi River, and the fastest growing county with a population under 19,000. Sublette County’s population grew by 9.4% between 2006 and 2007, according to new estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau. The bureau now estimates Sublette County’s population to be 7,925 permanent residents as of July of 2007, up 684 residents from July of 2006. Dell Fork Ranch features mountain scenery combined with authentic ranching traditions, totally private streams, uncrowded trails, cowboying, and mountain living. The town of Bondurant provides privacy as well as neighborly community. The town is made up of a non-denominational log church, a vibrant community club, well-trained volunteer fire department, small grade school, a motel, small public library, two outfitters, the Elkhorn bar and general store, the Branding Iron café and post office. Commercial air service is available in Jackson Hole with connecting flights from Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City, available on a seasonal daily basis. Private airstrips are available in both Jackson Hole and Pinedale and are capable of accommodating most private aircrafts. Beyond its overwhelming beauty, arguably Dell Fork Ranch’s most notable features are the clever way that management, recreational and agricultural activities have been combined on its compact 127 acres. Since it was homesteaded and settled in the early 1900s, all of Dell Fork’s land has been used almost exclusively for hay production, raising cattle and horses. Its current owner, while continuing to graze cattle, has taken full advantage of its recreational milieu by creating facilities for trap shooting, riding, packing and training competitive horses on the property. Gates and trails into the National Forest have been improved to the point where they can be opened and closed without dismounting. The streams, which were being destroyed by roaming cattle, have been fenced off from cattle for the last 13 years with an extraordinary renewal of clear water and trout habitat. When the present owner took over the ranch in 1993, the eight existing original log buildings were generously appraised at $17,000. They chose to restore and recapture the look and rugged ambience of those who made the western frontier their home. The result is seven wonderfully restored patinaed log buildings clustered around a new spring-fed trout pond with up-close views of the Gros Ventres Mountains. The Dell Fork Ranch offers multiple on-site options for the angling enthusiast on approximately two miles of private spring-fed fisheries. Dell Creek ribbons its way through miles of Forest Service lands from its inception well above 8,000 feet in the backcountry solitude of the Gros Ventre Range. The deep slots, undercut banks and long runs provide excellent feeding lies and protection from predators for the wily cutthroat and the colorful brook trout. Due to an abundance of food sources such as mayflies, caddis, stoneflies and mysis shrimp, the trout inhabiting the deepest holes average 14-18 inches in length. Jack Creek is the ideal light tackle fishery for stalking and fooling the wary resident trout. This open meadow and willow-lined treasure features multiple deep holes with crystal clear water for targeting the nimble feeders of the deep. Several springs provide consistent cold, clear water making Jack Creek an excellent candidate for further enhancement work. Both Dell Creek and Jack Creek have been properly managed to keep grazing cattle from damaging the banks and stream beds and have remained strictly catch and release fisheries for over 14 years. Close proximity to some of the West’s great fisheries could not be better; world-class fishing is available on the nearby Green, New Fork and Snake Rivers all within approximately 30 minutes from the ranch while the South Fork of the Snake River, the Grey and the Salt are approximately an one-hour drive. Due to its vast water resources and proximity to the immense backcountry habitat of the Bridger-Teton National Forest, the Dell Fork Ranch enjoys a host of wild visitors. As the current owners are birding enthusiasts, they have documented the following species on-site including two nesting Bald eagles, Golden eagles, kestrels, osprey, Red-tail and Swainson’s hawks, bug-consuming tree and barn swallows, cinnamon teal, great blue herons, sandhill cranes, killdeers, snipes, yellow warblers, mallards, baldpates, Canada geese, Sage and Blue grouse. Moose often loiter in the willows adjacent to the Hoback River while Mule deer sleep and feed in the yard nightly. The ranch also has a resident Pronghorn antelope herd of 30-40 members at any one time. A common border with the adjacent Bridger-Teton National Forest provides private access to more than 3.4 million acres of public land for outdoor recreation enjoyment. With its pristine watersheds, abundant wildlife and immense wildlands, the Bridger-Teton National Forest comprises a large part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem - the largest intact ecosystem in the lower 48 United States. - View Dell Fork Ranch Webcam - $4,900,000.
