Judith Mountain Hunting Ranch

Sold: 2015 Judith Mountain Hunting Ranch Lewistown, MT

Details & Features

Overview: Located 25 minutes from Lewistown in one of Montana’s premier recreational areas, the Judith Mountain Hunting Ranch offers an alpine sanctuary with springs, privacy and endless views of mountains. Situated in a private mountain valley below Judith Peak, this Montana ranch enjoys grand views of the Little Belt, Highwood and Moccasin Mountain Ranges. This exceptional 732-acre deeded offering encompasses sub-irrigated pastures, aspen groves, open grassy slopes and a mature Douglas fir forest. A rustic cabin is located on the south end of the ranch and views from the cabin are stunning with excellent access to adjoining BLM, state and nearby National Forest trailheads. The North Fork of Warm Springs Creek originates on the ranch. Warm Springs Creek flows westerly from the property, and it is a major contributory of the Judith River. This ranch is ideal for hunters, horsemen and outdoor enthusiasts with great access to public land for recreation as well as upland bird, waterfowl and big game hunting. A mixed-use offering, the Judith Mountain Hunting Ranch is well-suited as a horse, cattle or hunting ranch operation.

Live Water: The North Fork of Warm Springs Creek originates on the ranch. An amazing number of springs are also found throughout the property, most of which have not yet been developed. The size of the creek on the ranch is not of adequate size to develop as a fishery. Two large ponds near the cabin were breached by the extreme flooding of 2011 and have not been repaired by the current owners. Warm Springs Creek flows westerly from the property and is a major contributory of the Judith River. The Lewistown area has many excellent fisheries such as Big Spring Creek, Beaver Creek, Cottonwood Creek and the Judith River.

Improvements: The rustic cabin is approximately 600 sqft in size and would require cleanup and restoration even though it has been used up until recently. Though remote, the property has electricity available and running water at the cabin. The 2 ½ mile access road from the pavement has recently been improved allowing for an easy drive in a 4-wheel drive vehicle.

Recreation: Skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing are popular winter recreational activities. Showdown Ski Area, one of the nation’s best community downhill ski areas, is approximately 2 hours from the property. Red Lodge Ski Area is a 2-hour drive to the south. In summertime, there are numerous lakes, streams and rivers in the area to enjoy boating, fishing, swimming and relaxing. Exploring the wilderness and mountains in the area on horseback, ATV, mountain bike, or on foot will provide days of fun and adventure each year.
