Ranches for Sale in Lander, Wyoming
Lander is a charming Western mountain town with a population of about 8,000 and a long ranching history. It offers convenient access to the Shoshone and Bridger-Teton National Forest sections of the Wind River Mountains, which contain countless trout-filled rivers, streams, and lakes. Many of the streams with headwaters in the mountains find their way into the surrounding valleys and plains. These streams include fabled waters such as the Wind River, Bighorn River, Sweetwater River, and the three forks of the Popo Agie River.
In addition to fishing, there is excellent hunting for big game, and there are some opportunities for upland birds and waterfowl. In the winter, snowmobilers come from all over the country to ride the hundreds of miles of the Continental Divide Snowmobile Trail. In the summer, rock climbers come from all over the globe to climb the sheer limestone walls of Sinks Canyon State Park. There is an excellent Nordic ski center at nearby South Pass, and for the equestrian, there are several lifetimes’ worth of trails to ride. Between the National Forest in the mountains and state and federal lands in the plains, there are millions of acres of public land to explore in all directions.
