Frenchman’s Ranch
Details & Features
Situated in the shadow of the spectacular 8,000-foot Heart Mountain Frenchman’s Ranch is located in Park County, north of the famous historic town of Cody, Wyoming. Buffalo Bill chose the Cody area for its fertile grazing lands, mild winter climate and superb wildlife hunting. With great views of the Absaroka Mountain Range the ranch is in close proximity to town and an hour from the east entrance to Yellowstone National Park. To the west is Shoshone National Forest with abundant wildlife, fishing and recreational opportunities.
Frenchman’s Ranch has 371 deeded acres including approximately 200 acres of exceptional irrigated hay fields and excellent rangeland grazing. With water rights from Heart Mountain Irrigation, the ranch is a high quality hay farm producing as much as 1,000 tons of grass/alfalfa annually. In addition, the ranch includes 171 acres of rangeland grazing for cattle operations or winter horse pasture leases.
Surrounded by private landowners, the ranch offers exceptional habitat for Canada geese, pheasants, whitetail and mule deer, fox, coyote and elk. Each September at the start of hunting season, elk are driven down from public lands surrounding Heart Mountain finding refuge and a winter home on Frenchman’s Ranch.
Improvements include a meticulously maintained two-story ranch home with superb views of Heart Mountain and the Absaroka Range. With manicured lawns the house is surrounded by evergreens and beautiful flowering annuals. To support ranch operations there is an insulated, heated 2,370 sqft shop with oversized overhead equipment door, windows and concrete floor.
Accessed by a well-maintained year-round county road, the ranch is 25 minutes from the historic town of Cody. Considered one of the most popular gateway communities to Yellowstone National Park, Cody is the county seat of Park County. In addition, Cody provides everything a resort community has to offer. Amenities include state-of-the-art medical facilities, fine dining, excellent lodging, art galleries and museums including the prestigious Buffalo Bill Historical Center, summer concerts, rafting, world-class trout fishing and one of the largest contiguous tracts of national parks, forest and wildlife management areas in the country. The Yellowstone Regional Airport is the commercial airport in Cody, and it is serviced by Delta and United with connections to Salt Lake City and Denver International Airports.
With exceptional water rights and productive farm ground, the 371-acre Frenchman’s Ranch enjoys prime irrigated pastures and rangeland. An excellent income-producing investment, the ranch is in close proximity to all that northwest Wyoming has to offer and provides unlimited opportunities for fishing, hunting, hiking and horseback riding.
