Idaho Elk 1

Generally my elk hunting season begins and ends in the month of September, bow season. Something I look forward to every year. This year however was different as I applied for and drew a late season “any elk” tag, Area 62, that ran the entire month of November. This tag would allow me to hunt elk migrating through some incredible terrain from the border of Yellowstone National Park, near Island Park, all the way to Victor, Idaho, all on National Forest lands. Although this decision to rifle hunt was out of the norm for me I found great success and got lucky and was able to harvest this nice 6×6 bull elk that I measured conservatively at 331” gross and net score of 320”, my best elk to date. With the help of my good friend and colleague Matt MacMillan and his daughters ages 7 and 9 we were able to get the elk out of the woods in short order.

Trophy Steelhead at the Indian Creek Lodge
This trophy steelhead was estimated at 31 inches and 12 pounds. The fish was caught on the Trinity River, where the Indian Creek Lodge is nestled. What a beautiful fish! The Trinity River is one of the most beautiful and productive fly fishing streams in the Pacific Northwest. Comprising 8.64 acres, the Lodge includes 200 yards of stream frontage on a spectacular, 40-mile tailwater fishery below Lewiston Dam, which offers exceptional fishing for steelhead, brown trout, and Chinook salmon.
