Property Details

The Craighead Bench consists of 253-acres of undeveloped land with the Bitterroot River meandering through it for nearly one and a half miles. The Bitterroot is a world-class river with stellar dry fly fishing, the fishing trumped only by the views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Approximately 35-acres of benchland overlooks the river and provides multiple building sites. The remaining 217 acres consist of river bottomland, rich with an undisturbed ecology of flora and fauna.

The Bitterroot River is one of Montana’s best freestone fisheries supporting healthy numbers of wild Rainbow and Brown trout as well as native west-slope Cutthrought trout. The Craighead Bench is connected by the river corridor to the Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge which is located just upstream. The refuge creates an ecosystem filled with wildlife and provides habitat for an estimated 260 species of birds.

This Montana ranch for sale offers its new owners a blank slate. Build a home, ranch headquarters, or fishing lodge with fly fishing and hunting at one’s doorstep and enjoy the recreational opportunities the Bitterroot has to offer.
